NOV. 13, 2018 – The college basketball season is off and rolling and the latest Associated Press top 25 rankings were released on Monday. After just one week of games, there wasn’t much movement for the Oregon and Oregon State men and women.

In the men’s poll, the Oregon Ducks moved up one spot to No. 13 after going 2-0 to start the year. The Ducks have beaten-up on a pair of Big Sky basketball teams so far, but will face an undefeated Iowa team later this week in the 2K Empire Classic in New York.

Oregon is the highest ranked Pac-12 men’s team. UCLA is the only other Pac-12 team in the AP poll at No. 20.

The top 10 teams in the women’s AP poll remained the same, including the positions for Oregon and Oregon State.

The Oregon women remained at No. 3, while the OSU women stayed put at No. 8. The Ducks picked-up one of the 31 available first place votes, while Notre Dame took the other 30 to remain in first. UConn was voted second in the poll.

Both the Ducks and Beavers continue their seasons on Wednesday with more nonconference games.

Along with remaining top 10 teams nationally, the UO and OSU women also earned some other national early season recognitions. Four women from the two major in-state schools were named to the Naismith Trophy early season watch list.

Oregon landed three players on the list – juniors Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard and sophomore Satou Sabally. Ionescu was one of 10 semifinalists for the award last year. Oregon State sophomore transfer Destiny Slocum also made the list.

The Naismith Trophy is given annually to the national player of the year. The 50 player preseason watch list will be cut down to a midseason list of 30 players, then a list of 10 semifinalists before a group of four finalists are selected.
