The high school football regular season wrapped-up on Friday night and playoff match-ups have been set for six local teams.
The Sutherlin Bulldogs finished in a three-way tie for first in the 3A Special District 2 North standings and earned the second-seed with a 60-16 win over Siuslaw on Friday night. Now the Bulldogs will visit the Vale Vikings in the first round of the state playoffs on Saturday.
Sutherlin has a serious road trip on its hands. Vale is approximately seven hours from Sutherlin High School and in a different time zone. The Bulldogs and Vikings will kickoff Saturday at 1 p.m. Mountain Time, noon Pacific Time.
The Glide football team reached the 2A state playoffs as an at-large team. The Wildcats hit the road for Astoria to take on the Knappa Loggers. The first round game kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday.
At the 1A level, Elkton, Camas Valley, North Douglas, and Riddle have all qualified for the playoffs.
Elkton has been matched-up with Camas Valley in the first round. It’s the first game of the year between the two Douglas County rivals. They will kickoff at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
North Douglas football heads to Crane for the first round and will kickoff at 1 p.m. on Friday. Riddle qualified for the state playoffs for the first time in 23 years and will visit Hosanna Christian Friday at 7 p.m.
Finally, the Roseburg football team had hopes of a post season and finished the regular season with a win against Canby on Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to get the Indians into a playoff berth. Roseburg was one spot away from getting in for the first time since 2014.
