Four Umpqua Basin prep volleyball teams survived the weekend and will play for a state championship this weekend.

The South Umpqua volleyball team advanced to the 3A final site championship tournament after a win over Irrigon on Saturday. The Lancers swept the Knights after a closely played start to the match.

This will be the first trip to the final site tournament for South Umpqua since the Lancers went back in 2000. South Umpqua, the third-ranked team by the OSAA, will face six-seed Hosanna Christian on Friday at 10 a.m. The 3A final site tournament will be played at Forest Grove High School.

The Glide Wildcats also advanced in the playoffs with a win on Saturday. Glide downed Culver in straight sets to move on to the final site playoff at Ridgeview High School in Redmond.

The eighth-ranked Wildcats had a challenge from the ninth-ranked Bulldogs. Culver never lost a set by more than six points. Now Glide will square off with top-seed Kennedy on Friday at 1:15 p.m.

At the 1A level, North Douglas and Days Creek have continued on to the final site, also at Ridgeview High School. The two Douglas County schools will meet in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs after squaring off four times during the regular season.

North Douglas defeated Adrian in four sets on Saturday, while Days Creek beat Alsea 3-1.

North Douglas and Days Creek split the four matches they played during the regular season, but Days Creek won the last meeting in the league playoffs a little more than a week ago.

The Warriors and Wolves will square off at 8 a.m. on Friday.
