OCT. 26, 2018 – The final night of the high school football regular season kicks off this evening and of course, playoff spots are on the line. So far, only Sutherlin and Camas Valley have clinched a post season berth, but a number of Umpqua Basin teams can punch their tickets tonight.

The Roseburg (2-6; 1-3 SWC) football team aims for its third win of the year tonight against winless Canby (0-8) in a nonconference contest. Win or lose, nothing is guaranteed for Roseburg, which will hope to make the post season for the first time since 2014 as an at-large team.

Roseburg is currently ranked 30th in the OSAA power rankings and will most likely need to finish top 32 to secure a spot in the 32-team bracket. Presumably, a win would keep the Indians in the running for a playoff berth, but results of other games will also factor into Roseburg’s ranking. A loss would most likely drop Roseburg out of contention, but again, nothing is guaranteed.

The 6A power rankings are scheduled to freeze at 10 p.m. tonight once all the final games have been played. Roseburg will also celebrate senior night and homecoming to wrap-up the regular season. Kickoff for the Indians and Cougars is slated for 7 p.m.

Tune in for broadcast coverage starting at 6:45 p.m. on CBS Sports Radio 1490 The Score or watch online at 541radio.com.

Elsewhere, the Sutherlin Bulldogs (6-2; 3-1 SD2 North) may have a playoff berth in hand, but there’s still plenty to play for. Sutherlin is in a three-way tie for first in the Special District 2 North standings and a win could give the Bulldogs a conference title. It could also boost Sutherlin’s power ranking and help give the team home field advantage.

Tonight’s Sutherlin football game will be played at Siuslaw High School against the winless Vikings (0-7; 0-4 SD2 North). Tune in for broadcast coverage starting at 6:45 p.m. on i101 FM (LISTEN LIVE).

Glide and Oakland are still hopeful of reaching the 2A state playoffs. The Glide Wildcats are in a much better position to get in with either an automatic berth or an at large, thanks to their No. 12 ranking. Glide faces No. 13 Lakeview in a battle for top billing in the 2A Special District 5 standings. They kickoff at 7 p.m.

Oakland stumbled out of the gates to start the year, but a small resurgence at the end of the season has put the Oakers in a spot to reach the post season. A win at home against Jefferson tonight and a win by Central Linn over Regis would put Oakland into the post season. The Oakers kickoff from home at 7 p.m.

And at the 1A level, there are division cross-over matches scheduled for this evening and playoff spots will be claimed by the final whistle. Camas Valley earned a berth in the first round by winning the 1A Special District 2 West division. The Hornets have a bye this week.

As for the cross over matches, Riddle – the No. 2 team in the Special District 2 West Division – will face the East’s No. 3 team, Triad. Days Creek, the No. 3 team in the West Division will square off against Bonanza, the No. 2 from the East. The winner’s move on to the first round of the state playoffs.

It will be two’s against three’s in the cross over matches in Special District 1 as well. Elkton, the No. 2 team in the South, hosts the North’s No. 3 team, Siletz Valley. And North Douglas, the three-seed in the South, visits Falls City, the No. 2 team from the North. Again, the winner’s clinch a playoff berth.
