ROSEBURG – The Roseburg cross country team finished out the fall season by hosting the Southwest Conference district meet at Stewart Park on Wednesday, but Roseburg freshman Eliza Eckman was the only runner that advanced on to the state meet for the Indians.

Eckman paced the Roseburg girls with a team-best time of 19:04.4. She was only four seconds off her personal best, set nearly a week earlier at Warner Pacific. Eckman placed seventh overall, which makes her the final individual state qualifier from the meet. Roseburg senior Isabell Webber placed 15th and was the next highest finisher for the Indians.

On the boy’s side, Zachary Traul and Hunter Agsten finished the race together and tied for 11th overall, but the mark was not good enough to qualify the pair for the state meet.

Eliza Eckman will now continue her season with her first appearance in the state meet coming up November 3 at Lane Community College in Eugene.

There’s more cross country going on Thursday down in the Rogue Valley.

The 3A/2A/1A Special District 4 boys and girls championship meet will take place at the Valley of the Rogue Sate Park near Rogue River. Runners from 29 teams will compete, including local teams Douglas, Glide, Oakland, South Umpqua, Sutherlin, and Yoncalla.

The championship meet gets started at 1:30 p.m.
