EUGENE – The Roseburg boys soccer team netted a 3-0 win against the Sheldon Irish on Tuesday in Eugene.
The Tribe scored early and often to build a lead the Irish were unable to overcome. Sophomore Rayce Bergeron got Roseburg’s scoring started very quickly with a goal in the first minute. It only took another 60 seconds before the Tribe would strike again. Fernando Bitelli made it a 2-0 score in the 2nd minute.
Jonathan Colunga put Roseburg’s final goal in net in the 25th minute and the Indians managed to hold off the Irish in the second half for the shutout.
Senior Patrick Giraudo had two assists in the win.
“It was our most complete game of the season and a true team effort,” said head coach Jim Giraudo. “We tackled strong, played possession well, and were very creative up top. The defense played their best game of the season.”
Roseburg improved to 3-4 in conference games and 4-6-1 overall. The RHS boys are on the bubble, fighting for a playoff spot. Up next, the Tribe hosts North Medford on Saturday.
