OCT. 9, 2018 – Tonight, two Umpqua Basin teams will square off for sole possession of first place in their respective conferences.

The Roseburg volleyball team has caught fire over the last three weeks and the Tribe will look to continue its winning ways with a match against Sheldon. Roseburg and Sheldon are tied for first in the Southwest Conference standings with 5-1 records, but the winner of tonight’s contest will gain the upper hand.

The Indians enter the match after winning eight of their last nine, including a win over the Irish in a tournament at South Albany High School. Sheldon does have a league win over Roseburg back in mid-September.

Tonight’s match tips-off at 6:45 p.m. from Robertson Memorial Gymnasium at Roseburg High School.

In the Far West League tonight, the South Umpqua Lancers visit Cascade Christian with a volleyball league title on the line. A win over second place Cascade Christian would mean the Lancers couldn’t be passed in the league standings and would hold the tiebreaker against the Challengers with only two league games remaining.

South Umpqua has a perfect 7-0 league record and has league and non-league wins over 6-1 Cascade Christian. Although, the Challengers did win the last meeting with South Umpqua in a tournament at Creswell High School.
