ROSEBURG – The Roseburg volleyball team stretched its winning streak to five straight matches with a 3-0 win over South Medford on Tuesday. The Tribe dispatched the Panthers rather easily, winning 25-16, 25-21, and 25-15.

Chay Swenson led Roseburg with 10 kills. Karey Lomica had 13 digs and Mallory Malysz led with 17 assists.

Roseburg remains just behind Sheldon for the Southwest Conference’s top spot. Up next, the Indians will visit Grants Pass on Thursday.

The Roseburg soccer teams struggled against South Medford on Tuesday. The RHS girls avoided a shutout with a late goal, but lost 3-1 against the Panthers. South Medford struck twice in the first half against the short-handed Indians and made it 3-0 in the 70th minute. Roseburg’s Callie Price scored the lone goal for the Tribe in the 75th minute.

The Roseburg boys found themselves in a deep hole very quickly against South Medford and wound up with a 5-2 loss at Spiegelberg Stadium in Medford. The Panthers built a 4-0 lead in the first 20 minutes and cruised from there on. Roseburg got on the board with a goal by Jayden Roth in the 30th minute. Fernando Bitelli chipped in a goal in the 70th minute.

Both Roseburg teams will prepare to face Grants Pass on Saturday.
