Umpqua RiverHawks sophomore Kyrie Keffer was selected as the Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced Thursday by the conference office. Keffer, a libero from Klamath Falls, had 82 digs in games played Friday and Saturday at the Lower Columbia Crossover tournament in Washington last week.
This is the first conference player of the week award for the Riverhawks this year. Keffer and teammate Emma Lind have both previously received South Region defensive player of the week awards.
The Umpqua RiverHawks (8-9) begin South Region play Friday with a road trip to face the Clark Penguins (9-12). The conference opener tips off at 6:30 p.m. in Vancouver, WA.
