SPRINGFIELD – Roseburg freshman Eliza Eckman won the freshman/sophomore race at the Sunset Meet in Springfield on Friday to lead the girls’ cross country team in its first meet of the season. Eckman ran Roseburg’s fastest time of the meet and finished the 3,000 meter course in 11:39.3.

Senior Isabell Webber led the way for Roseburg in the girl’s junior and senior race. She placed fifth with a time of 12:01.29. Her teammate Bethany Kalebaugh placed tenth with a time of 12:28. The Indians had four runners in the top 20 and placed third out of the four teams competing.

Roseburg junior Zachary Traul led the boys’ cross country team at the same meet on Friday. Traul finished the course in 9:47.4 and placed seventh. Senior Elijah Hansen was the only other Roseburg runner in the top 10. He finished in 10:04.89. The boys also finished third out of four teams in the junior/senior race.

The Roseburg cross country teams will be at The Invitational meet at Marist High School on Saturday.
