PORTLAND – The Portland Trail Blazers will start the 2018-19 season on national television. The NBA announced match-ups for key dates in the upcoming season on Wednesday and the Blazers will play on opening night, at home, against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Blazers have a franchise-record 15-game winning streak against the Lakers, but this will be the first time they face L.A. with LeBron. The four-time MVP joined Los Angeles as a free agent during the off season. Portland will also try to extend its 17-game winning streak in home openers. The NBA regular season begins on October 16, but Portland starts on Oct. 18 on TNT. The Blazers and Lakers will tipoff at 7:30 p.m.

Portland will also be a part of the Christmas Day lineup this year. The Blazers visit the Utah Jazz for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff on December 25. It’s the last of five games on the holiday. Portland hasn’t played on Christmas Day since the 2010-11 season. The Blazers are 14-3 all time on Christmas Day.
