The Mid-Valley SouthPaws eliminated the Hillsboro Barbers to start day three of the AAA American Legion baseball state tournament in Roseburg. Mid-Valley scored three runs in the third inning off Hillsboro starter Micky Thompson. Two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases with one out and Taylor Holder drove in the first two runs. A wild pitch scored the third.
Hillsboro struck back in the fourth with a pair of runs on a bloop single by Dillon McNeil and a fielding error, but the Barbers fell short of the comeback. They managed only two hits the rest of the game, but left three runners in scoring position over the final three innings.
