COOS BAY – The season came to an end on Thursday for the Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps. The ‘Caps went to extra innings for a second consecutive game at the Class-A American Legion state tournament and once again came up on the short end. Roseburg fell 4-3 against Columbia Gorge in 10 innings.

Pepsi took a 3-1 lead midway through the game, but Columbia Gorge rallied to tie things up in the seventh.

The contest went into extra innings tied 3-3 and the Bottlecaps had a golden chance to pull out a walk-off win. They had the bases loaded with just one out in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn’t push across the winning run.

In the tenth, Columbia Gorge scored the go-ahead run on a two-out single. Pepsi had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the tenth, but went down in order to end the year.

The Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps finished the season 22-5 overall.
