BAKER CITY, ORE. – As the start of the high school football season approaches, many of last year’s seniors will be gearing up for an All-Star game in Baker City on August 4. The annual East-West Shrine game will feature Oregon’s top 1A through 4A football players from the class of 2018, including six players from the Umpqua Basin.
Oakland’s Nic Freeman and Andrew Harrington will suit up for the West team along with Taylor Gross and Johnathan Warner from South Umpqua and Jacob Payne from Camas Valley. South Umpqua’s Anthony Rondeau and Yoncalla’s Ted Wickman have been named alternates for the West.
Glide’s Cyller Cunningham earned a spot on the East Team and Sutherlin’s Korbyn Jones was named an alternate.
The All-Star game will also feature South Umpqua coach Steve Stebbins and Oakland coach Ben Lane as part of the coaching staff on the West sideline. Douglas cheerleader Elaina Dowdy will suit up to root on the West squad.
The East-West Shrine game will kickoff at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 4.
