COOS BAY – The Roseburg Dr. Randols are staying in the championship bracket of the Class-A American Legion baseball state tournament after a 9-4 win against South Medford in the first round on Wednesday.

The Crowns took an early 3-0 advantage over the Panthers in the second inning and rode that lead to a victory. South Medford closed the gap down to one-run in the third, but Dr. Randols scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to stretch the lead back out.

Austin Luzier drove in two runs in the five-run fourth with a double. He finished the game 1-for-3 and also picked up the win on the mound.

Donovan Hargraves went 2-for-3 with a runs scored and a RBI and Brett Narkiewitz added a RBI on a 1-for-3 day.

Dr. Randols will face the winner of Klamath Falls and North Coos in the second round on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
