ROSEBURG – The Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s saw their home winning streak come to an end on Monday night, but the Doc’s rallied to earn a split against the Willamette Valley Titans in an Area IV league doubleheader.

The visiting Titans scored late in the opening game of Monday’s doubleheader to win 3-1. The Doc’s came back from a two-run deficit in the nightcap to take a 6-4 victory.

Willamette Valley (14-20; 6-8 Area IV) scored two runs in the seventh inning to spoil a solid pitching performance from Payton Hope. The right-hander was throwing a perfect game through the first four innings, but gave up the game-tying run in the fifth. The score remained tied 1-1 until the top of the seventh, when the Titans drove Hope out of the game.

The loss snapped the Doc’s 13-game home winning streak.

Roseburg (20-15; 8-6 Area IV) fell behind 3-1 in the top of the fourth in game two, but responded by scoring five runs in the home half of the inning. Roseburg scored all five runs in the fourth with two outs. The Dr. Stewart’s held off the Titans’ attempt at another late comeback behind a complete game pitching performance from Zack Mandera. The Doc’s starter tossed all seven innings and allowed four runs on seven hits.

The Doc’s continue play Tuesday with a doubleheader at Willamette Valley. The Titans will host Roseburg at the Hamlin Sports Complex in Springfield. Game one of the league doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. Tune in for coverage starting at 4:45 p.m. on 1490 The Score or watch online at 541radio.com.
