HILLSBORO – The Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s scored first in both games of their nonleague doubleheader against the Post 6 Barbers, but there wasn’t much offense after that for the Doc’s.

The Barbers belted the ball around the park at Liberty High School on Monday for a pair of wins, 9-2 and 10-1.

Roseburg (11-11; 2-2 Area 4) scored a run in the first inning of each game, but the Barbers responded quickly to either tie or take the lead. In the opener, Doran Gillespie launched a solo home run to put the Doc’s in front 1-0, but Post 6 stole the lead in the home half of the inning with a two-run homer by Rowan Ramsay.

The Barbers (19-3) added five more runs off Roseburg starter Jace Stofall in the second inning. An error and two wild pitches brought home the first three runs and another two-run homer by Ramsay made it a 7-1 edge for Post 6.

The Doc’s added a run in the third on a single by Luke Lucido, but that would be all the offense could muster. The Barbers tallied runs in the fourth and fifth innings to keep the Stewies at an arm’s distance.

Roseburg collected nine hits in the opener, led by Gillespie with his home run and a double.

Ramsay and Dillon McNeil each went 3-for-3 for the Barbers. McNeil finished a triple away from the cycle. He hit a solo home run in the fifth.

Game two started out very similar to game one. The Doc’s scored a run in the first on a Lucido single, but the Barbers tied the game on a RBI double by Bryan Bafaro. The game remained tied until the bottom of the third. Patrick Muskat drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out double and the Barbers led from that point on.

Blake Baccay, Alex Garcia, and Jared Gordon all finished with two hits for Post 6. Gordon and Tyler Antich each drove in two of the Barbers’ 10 runs.

Lucido finished with the only RBI for the Doc’s in game two. Roseburg mustered only four hits against the Barbers’ pitching staff.

The Doc’s will have two days off for the Fourth of July holiday and will get back to action on Thursday with one day of practice before getting back into league play on Friday. Roseburg will host the Eugene Challengers for a doubleheader on Friday and then will travel to Eugene for a twin bill on Saturday.
