MEDFORD – The Dr. Randol’s Class A American Legion baseball season started with a sweep of Cascade Christian in a non-league doubleheader on Wednesday.

The Crowns started with an 11-7 win in game one and polished off the sweep with an 11-4 victory in game two.

Austin Anderson started the scoring in the first inning of game one, driving in Erich Hoquen who reached on a triple. The Dr. Randol’s added five runs in the second as the team batted around and built a 6-0 advantage. CJ Gale hit one of his two doubles in the half inning and collected two of his four RBI. He finished 2-for-5 in the game.

Cascade Christian scored three runs in the third inning to cut the deficit in half. Starter Drake Borschowa settled back in and held Cascade Christian scoreless over his final two innings. Borschowa picked up the win, tossing five innings while striking out six.

Head coach went with Payton Williams in relief, but the youngster from Glide surrendered four runs in the sixth and the seventh. Austin Luzier came in to close out the game and preserve the victory.

The Crowns took advantage of poor pitching by Cascade Christian in game two and built a 10-2 lead after four innings of play. Austin Anderson picked up the win, tossing five innings, striking out six, and allowing four runs.

Up next, the Dr. Randol’s will play their first “home” game of the year. The Crowns will host Hidden Valley for a doubleheader on Sunday, but the games will be played at North Douglas High School. Legion Field in Roseburg, the Dr. Randol’s usual home location, is unavailable over the weekend as it hosts a 4A All-Star series. Game one of the Dr. Randol’s doubleheader with Hidden Valley is scheduled to start at noon.
