WINCHESTER – The prolific rookie campaign of Umpqua freshman Jordan Stotler just keeps getting better. The Northwest Athletic Conference announced Tuesday that Stotler has set a new conference record for the most blocked shots in a single-season.
The Roseburg High School graduate ended the regular season with 123 blocked shots, eclipsing the previous single-season record of 110 set in 2009 by Rylee Peterson of Clackamas.
The 6’4″ post has averaged 4.39 blocked shots per game this season, well ahead of Peterson’s mark of 3.67 blocks per game. Stotler has a chance to add to her record total during the upcoming NWAC championship tournament this weekend. The Umpqua women play Treasure Valley in the first round on Saturday at 10 a.m.
The Lady Riverhawks are the No. 1 team in the bracket and will be one of the favorites to claim the conference title. The Umpqua women last won a conference championship back in 2000.
The Umpqua men’s basketball team is a 2-seed in the conference tournament and will face Bellevue on Thursday in the first round. The game tips off at noon.
