BROOKINGS – The Douglas girls basketball team handled its business against Brookings-Harbor on Tuesday to remained tied with Marshfield for first in the Far West League.

Junior Lainey Rincon scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Lady Trojans to a 67-50 victory over the Bruins. Senior Darian Mitchell added a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

The Trojans trailed the Bruins by five at the end of the first quarter, but Douglas outscored Brookings 22-12 in the second quarter to take a 33-28 lead into the break. Douglas stretched its lead with an 18-9 advantage in the third quarter.

Up next, the Douglas girls will host South Umpqua on Friday.
