ROSEBURG – It’s been a week since the season began for high school soccer in Oregon, but the Roseburg girls haven’t been able to get their season underway.

The Indians have had two games canceled due to poor air quality from nearby wildfires. The first was last Saturday at home against Thurston and then again Tuesday at West Albany.

The RHS ladies will give it a try again Thursday as they’re scheduled to head to West Albany for an 11 a.m. contest against the Bulldogs. This will be the first official game of the year for Roseburg, which is trying to improve on last year’s two-win season. This will also be the first game of the year for the West Albany girls.

Also on tap for Thursday, the Skyline League begins conference play in volleyball. The small-school league will feature five match-ups. Games including local teams are Camas Valley host New Hope Christian, Yoncalla at Umpqua Valley Christian, North Douglas on the road at Elkton, and Days Creek hosts Glendale.
