ROSEBURG – The search to replace legendary football coach Thurman Bell continues at Roseburg High School after two candidates were recently offered the position, but declined the job. Roseburg athletic director Russ Bolin says that four people were interviewed for the position out of 17 applicants. The names of any of the candidates have not been released.

Bolin initially announced that he had hoped to have a candidate to recommend for hire at the Roseburg School Board meeting on April 13, but superintendent Garry Washburn confirmed prior to the meeting last week that no candidate had been added to the agenda.

Coach Bell retired after last season, his 45th as the head coach of the Indians. Bell finished his career with the most wins at the big-school level (332) and second-most in state history.
