The Roseburg girls soccer team is moving on in the Class 6A state playoffs after a 3-1 win over Sheldon at Finlay Field Saturday.

Kyleigh Miller, Maddie Newton and Kendall Knox all scored for Roseburg (9-1-5), which had previously finished in a 0-0 draw against Sheldon (7-7-2) during the regular season. Miller also had 2 assists for the Indians and Olivia Getman also assisted on a score.

The playoff victory was the first for Roseburg since the Indians beat Sandy 1-0 in a first round playoff match in 2009.

Up next, the Roseburg girls will head to McMinnville (13-0-1) for a second round game at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Grizzlies won the Pacific Conference championship and earned a first round bye.

A win for the Indians would be the first time in program history that the club has won two games in the same playoff.
