Prep Cross Country: Roseburg runs at Silver Falls Oktoberfest Invitational

Roseburg High School’s cross country runners made the trek to Silver Falls State Park for the Silver Falls Oktoberfest Invitational on Wednesday in Silverton. The Indians performed well in the boys and girls varsity races.

The Roseburg boys finished fourth as a team, led by senior Ethan Smith who covered the 5K course in 17 minutes, 31.31 seconds. His time was good enough for an 8th place finish. Junior Tayten Keplinger crossed the finish line 13th in a time of 17 minutes, 54.82 seconds. Four of Roseburg’s six runners finished in the top half of the 77-runner field.

The Roseburg girls were led by freshman Brooklyn Durham, who finished 16th in a field of 125 runners. She finished the course in 21 minutes, 36.33 seconds. Briana Smith (22:06.57) was 21st in the field and Paige Heacock (22:43.60) was 39th for the Tribe.

Up next, the Roseburg cross country teams will compete at the Prefontaine Memorial Run on Saturday at Marshfield High School.
