College Soccer: Umpqua women fall to Tacoma 4-2 in season-opener

TUKWILA, Wash. — The 10th-ranked Umpqua Community College women’s soccer team came up short against 4th-ranked Tacoma in a 4-2 loss on Tuesday at the NWAC Friendlies at Starfire Sports Complex.

Scoring for the Riverhawks were freshmen Mya Stone and McKenzee West, who both notched their first goals in a Riverhawks uniform.

Up next, the Umpqua women will square off with Whatcom at 10 a.m. Wednesday to finish play in the NWAC Friendlies.

The Orcas lost their first matchup 4-1 against 8th-ranked Walla Walla on Tuesday. Whatcom is ranked just outside the top 10 to start the season.
