Legion Baseball: Docs finish regular season with 4-3 walkoff win over Lewis-Clark

The Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s closed out the 2026 regular season with a 4-3 walkoff win over the Lewis-Clark Twins Friday at Champion Car Wash Field.

Christian Korba hit a two-out single through the right side to drive in the winning run and cap-off a two-run seventh inning comeback for the Docs.

Roseburg finished the regular season with a 19-12 overall record and now will prepare to face Corvallis in the first round of the Oregon AAA American Legion baseball state tournament 1 p.m. Saturday at Medford’s Harry and David Field.

Korba’s single was his second base hit of the game. He finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

The Docs had to overcome a deficit twice in the ballgame.

The Lewis-Clark Twins (21-11) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Danner Wertz. Both runs were unearned. Wertz attempted to start a double-play on a grounder hit back to the pitcher. The throw to second base was on target, but the relay to first got away and allowed one run to score and the inning to continue.

Cal Robbins, a former Dr. Stewart’s player now with the Twins, drove in the second run with a single before Wertz got out of the frame with a fly out to left field.

Wertz helped get the Docs on the board in the home half of the first with a sacrifice fly. Sam Hall started on the mound for the Twins and issued three consecutive walks to load the bases. Regan Soper scored on Wertz’s fly out to right field.

Soper scored again in the third inning on Korba’s first hit of the game to tie the game at 2-2.

Hayden Thompson made his first appearance on the mound for the Docs in the seventh inning. He gave up a triple to Hall to begin the inning and Hall scored on a sacrifice fly by Peyton Bonebrake to give Lewis-Clark a 3-2 advantage.

Robbins took over on the mound for the Twins in the seventh inning. After a leadoff single by Mason Young, the Docs got two runners in scoring position thanks to a throwing error on what could have been a game-ending double play.

Logan Anderson plated the game-tying run on a fielder’s choice and set up Korba’s game-winning knock.
