Summer college baseball starts for many local players
The summer baseball season got underway over the last week in the West Coast League. There are a number of players with local ties competing in the summer collegiate league and seeing early success.
Douglas High School graduate Tristan Ledbetter is pitching with the Springfield Drifters after spending the spring season with Umpqua Community College. He tossed five scoreless innings in the Drifters home-opener on Tuesday and helped Springfield earn its first win of the year. He struck out eight and allowed just one hit.
Ledbetter was named the Player of the Game.

- Ben Allen, Umpqua CC – Marion Berries
