Prep Track & Field: Roseburg and Sheldon split team victories in competitive meet

The Roseburg and Sheldon track and field teams split a competitive Southwest Conference meet at Finlay Field on Wednesday. The Roseburg boys won 10 events to narrowly beat the Irish 74-71. The Roseburg girls won eight events, but came up just short in a 76-68 loss.

A number of Roseburg athletes highlighted the event by setting new personal best marks while winning their events.

  • Ethan Smith won the boys 800 with a PR time (2:08.33).
  • Remy Huerta had his best toss to win the boys javelin (155′ 11″).
  • McLane Stedman set a new PR and won the high jump (5′ 11″).
  • Rylie McLaughlin broke her personal record while winning the girls 1500 (5:06.05).
  • Mallory Colvin was first in the 3000 with a PR time (13:32.66).
  • Molly Heuberger cleared a new PR and placed first in the pole vault (8′ 9″).
  • Kaylee Bain PR’d with the best leap in the triple jump (31′ 1″).

Up next, the Roseburg track and field team will compete at the 76th annual Grants Pass Rotary Invitational on Saturday.
