College Basketball: Umpqua women fall to Peninsula in NWAC quarterfinals

PASCO, Wash. — The college basketball season came to an end for the Umpqua women with a 71-57 loss against Peninsula in the NWAC tournament quarterfinals at Columbia Basin College on Sunday.

The Riverhawks fell behind in the second quarter and couldn’t make up the deficit. Giselle Muffett had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead UCC. Kaelyn Shoemaker and Sydnee Muntifering added 11 points each for the Riverhawks.

The Umpqua women beat South Puget Sound 75-67 on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s quarterfinal matchup with Peninsula.

UCC finished the season with a 22-9 overall record.
