Prep Boys Basketball: Roseburg stumbles at home in 72-46 loss to Newberg

A hot start and a big finish powered the Newberg Tigers past the Roseburg Indians 72-46 in a nonconference boys basketball game Friday at Robertson Memorial Gymnasium.

Newberg (1-2) built a 19-6 lead in the first quarter, but Roseburg (0-4) kept the Tigers from running away with the game over the next two periods.

Tristan Frable scored 13 of his season-high 16 points in the second and third quarters to help the Indians stay within 50-35 heading to the fourth quarter. Roseburg’s comeback attempt stalled out as Newberg doubled-up the Tribe 22-11 over the final eight minutes.
