UCC Hoops: Riverhawks earn wins at NWAC Crossover events
LONGVIEW, Wash. — The Umpqua Community College men’s basketball team is still undefeated. The Riverhawks jumped on the Whatcom Orcas early and won 92-65 on Day 1 of the NWAC Crossover tournament at Lower Columbia College on Thursday.
Jackson McKee put up 22 points with 16 rebounds to lead UCC (11-0) in the victory. Caden Hunter added 19 points off the bench.
The Umpqua men will continue play in the NWAC Crossover with a matchup against the host team, Lower Columbia, at 6 p.m. Friday.
The Umpqua women earned their third straight win with a 74-43 victory against Skagit Valley in the South Puget Sound NWAC Crossover event on Thursday in Olympia, Washington.
After a narrow first quarter deficit, the Riverhawks out-scored Skagit Valley 56-24 over the final three periods. Giselle Muffett had 21 points to lead UCC (3-2) and Kayln Shoemaker added 20.
The Umpqua women will face South Puget Sound at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
