Roseburg baseball comes up short in 11-4 loss to Clackamas

The Roseburg Indians lost to Clackamas 11-4 in a nonleague baseball game Monday at Bill Gray Legion Stadium at Champion Car Wash Field.

The game featured eight errors combined between the two teams, highlighting the fact that both teams were playing just their second game of the season.

Nolan Foglio was 3-for-4 to lead the Cavaliers at the plate. He drove in the first run of the game with a triple in the first inning.

Roseburg (1-1) overcame a 2-0 deficit with a pair of runs in the second inning. AJ Black plated a run with a single to right field and later scored on an errant pickoff throw.

Clackamas (2-0) retook the lead with three runs in the third off Roseburg starter Dane St. Clair. A throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt brought in one run and Nick Sousa drove in two more with a one-out single.

The Indians added runs in the third and fifth innings, but couldn’t catch up to the Cavaliers.

Clackamas put the game well out of reach with five runs in the fifth inning. The first five batters got on base, with Kyle Kristensen driving in one run and Jacob Stube picking up two RBIs on his second single of the contest.

St. Clair took the loss after allowing 10 runs on 10 with two walks and three strikeouts.

Cal Robbins had three hits in the game, including a double and a triple. Roseburg had five players with multiple hits in the game.

The Indians host McMinnville for a nonleague doubleheader starting at noon Tuesday at Champion Car Wash Field.
