Riverhawks sweep Chemeketa to stay undefeated in league games
The Umpqua Community College women’s basketball team stayed undefeated on the year thanks to a 69-53 win over Chemeketa on Wednesday in Winchester.
The Riverhawks made 11 3-pointers and held a 54-39 advantage on the glass.
Rebekah Beltran sank six 3-pointers and led UCC with 20 points. Brooklyn Fely and Male’ata Polamalu both recorded double-doubles for the ‘Hawks. Fely finished with a team-high 18 rebounds to go with 12 points. Polamalu had 15 points and 11 boards.
The Umpqua women are now 14-0 on the year and 2-0 in league games.
The UCC men finished off the sweep of Chemeketa with a 93-76 victory.
The Riverhawks dominated inside, winning the rebounding battle 50-29 and scoring 46 points in the paint.
Jayden Haskell and Jok Job each scored 17 points to lead Umpqua and Bowen Davies had a double-double with 14 points and 19 rebounds.
The Riverhawks will host the Clackamas Cougars on Saturday. The women tipoff at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m.
