UCC fall sports nearing start to the season

The sports season at Umpqua Community College is about ready to open up for the fall. The Riverhawks are fielding teams for volleyball, women’s soccer and cross country and will officially begin the season later this month.

Prior to the season getting underway, the UCC volleyball team is participating in a couple of exhibition matches at College of the Siskiyous today. The Riverhawks square off with Lassen College and College of the Siskiyous starting at noon.

Jami Strinz has taken over as head coach of the program. She’s also serving as head coach for the new softball team, which begins its first season in the spring.

The UCC volleyball team plays its season-opener on Aug. 26 at Lower Columbia.
