Roseburg tennis teams compete at state tournament
BEAVERTON — The Roseburg doubles team of Kamryn Wattman and Addison Roberts battled back to reach the consolation finals on Saturday after starting the OSAA state tennis tournament with a loss on Thursday at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
The duo claimed a win in the opening set against Sprague’s Reese Beyrouty and Elisabeth Nickel, but lost the next two sets to drop the match to the Olympians.
Wattman and Roberts went 2-2 in the state tournament, winning consolation matches against teams from South Eugene and Sherwood.
The Roseburg boys doubles team of Massimo Fellini and Esteban Webber-Bernal made it to the consolation semifinals before bowing out of the competition. Sprague’s team of Lincoln Basl and Jacob Hoda eliminated the Roseburg team 8-2 and went on to win the consolation final over a team from Grant High School.
