#UmpquaPreps recap: UVC takes 5th in volleyball playoffs, local runners at state XC meet
REDMOND — The Umpqua Valley Christian volleyball team placed 5th in the Class 1A state playoffs on Saturday at Ridgeview High School.
The Monarchs reached the semifinals on Friday before losing to eventual state champion Crane in four sets (25-13, 25-15, 23-25, 25-17).
UVC fell to the third place match on Saturday against No. 2-seed Powder Valley. The contest was competitive and the Monarchs jumped out to a 2-1 lead through three games, but Powder Valley fought back to take the match to five sets where the Badgers outlasted the Monarchs 19-17 for the win.
