
South Umpqua’s Steve Stebbins and Oakland’s Ben Lane were both awarded coach of the year honors recently at the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association banquet.
Stebbins was named the Class 3A baseball coach of the year after helping guide the Lancers to a state championship in the spring of 2022 and to the semifinals in this spring.
Lane was named the Class 2A football coach of the year after leading the Oakers to the state title in the fall of 2022.
Roseburg baseball umpire Tom Nelson was honored over the weekend during the state championships at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer. Nelson was named the Oregon Athletic Officials Association umpire of the year for 2023.
