The top-ranked Umpqua Community College women’s basketball team continued to roll with an 80-48 win over No. 6 Mt. Hood on Saturday. The RiverHawks are now 19-0 on the year and 6-0 in league games.
UCC pulled ahead of the Saints with a lopsided second period. The RiverHawks outscored Mt. Hood 24-7 and led 40-19 at the break.
Darian Mitchell led three players in double-figures with 22 points. Sienna Riggle added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The No. 4 Umpqua men suffered a 78-72 setback against Mt. Hood and took their first loss of the league season. The RiverHawks (16-2, 4-1 South) also had a 9-game winning streak come to an end.
Kolten Mortensen led three UCC players in double digits with 19 points.
The RiverHawks will continue the season Monday with a pair of South Region games at Chemeketa. The women tipoff at 1 p.m. and the men play at 3 p.m.
