MEDFORD – Roseburg junior Hunter Agsten had a banner day at the Southwest Conference cross country district meet on Wednesday and qualified for the upcoming state meet.

Agsten ran a personal record time of 16:21 and finished fourth in the boys 5,000 meters varsity race. His top 10 finish qualifies him to race as an individual at the state meet coming up November 4 at Lane Community College.

Agsten was the only Roseburg runner to qualify for state. Zachary Traul and Eli Hansen were the next top finishers for the Roseburg boys. Traul placed 17th and Hansen took 19th. Junior Isabell Webber crossed the finish line first for Roseburg in the girl’s race, but took 18th overall and did not qualify for state.

There’s more cross country district meets coming up Thursday. The Sutherlin Bulldogs will race in the Sky-Em League meet at Lane Community College in Eugene. The Douglas and South Umpqua teams will compete in the Far West League meet at Tugman State Park in North Bend. Glide, Oakland, and Yoncalla will all send runners to the Special District 4 championship meet also at Lane Community College.
