Prep Boys Basketball: Roseburg falls to North Medford, 73-33

MEDFORD — A short-handed Roseburg boy’s basketball team was unable to keep up with the North Medford Black Tornado in a 73-33 Southwest Conference loss Tuesday night at Oakdale Middle School.

North Medford (3-10, 1-0 SWC) used a 13-2 run midway through the first quarter to build a double-digit lead that the Black Tornado wouldn’t relinquish.

Roseburg (0-14, 0-2 SWC) cut into an 18-point deficit at the start of the second quarter with a quick 6-0 run, but North Medford rallied to finish the period on a 17-3 run that stretched the lead to 46-20 at halftime.

Senior Harrison Scott, Roseburg’s leading scorer, was unable to play in the game due to a foot injury. The Indians were already without senior Jaron Leeworthy, who was Roseburg’s other top returner this season, but went down with an achilles injury after just two games.

Marcus Lobo stepped in to lead the Indians with a season-high 10 points.

Liam Rea led four North Medford players in double figures with 18 points. Bryan Nunez and Tahvo Pool contributed 17 points each.

The Roseburg boys will host Grants Pass at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
