#UmpquaPreps: Cross country district meets

EUGENE — The Roseburg cross country teams competed at the Southwest Conference championship meet on Wednesday at Lane Community College. Both the boy’s and girl’s teams outperformed their seeding in the team standings.

The boys were seeded sixth ahead of the race and finished fourth in the team standings, while the girls were seeded fifth and also finished fourth. Sheldon took first in the boy’s standings, while South Eugene took home the girl’s team title.

Senior Rylie McLaughlin led the Roseburg girls with a ninth place finish and Ethan Smith led the RHS boys with a 13th place finish. Both have qualified for the OSAA state cross country meet coming up Nov. 8 at Lane Community College.

Cross country district meets continue today with the Class 3A/2A/1A Special District 4 championships at Valley of the Rogue State Park in Gold Hill. Local schools sending runners include Camas Valley, Days Creek, Douglas, Glendale, Glide, North Douglas, Oakland, South Umpqua, Sutherlin and Yoncalla.
