Roseburg cross country places 6th at Grant Robinson Invite
McMINNVILLE — In a field of more than a dozen schools, the Roseburg Indians cross country teams placed sixth at the Grant Robinson Invitational hosted by McMinnville High School Thursday at Joe Dancer Park.
In the varsity 5,000 meters race, the Roseburg boys scored 178 and finished sixth out of 19 schools. McMinnville claimed the boys’ title with a score of 49.
The Roseburg girls were sixth out of 15 schools with a score of 168. Crescent Valley took the girls’ title with a score of 67.
Roseburg senior Rylie McLaughlin led the RHS girls with a 13th-place finish. She ran the course in a personal record time of 20 minutes, 7.12 seconds.
Junior Ethan Smith led the Indians in the boys race with an 18th-place finish. He ran a PR time of 16 minutes, 49.43 seconds.
“This was a great meet for us, especially at this point in the season,” Roseburg coach Nathan Eckman said. “It feels like our momentum is building at just the right time. Our runners are excited to race at home on Wednesday.”
The Roseburg cross country teams will host the Umpqua Invite on Wednesday afternoon at Stewart Park in Roseburg.
