ASHLAND — A former Roseburg High School multi-sport standout will be enshrined in the Southern Oregon University Sports Hall of Fame later this year.

Eric Thompson was announced last week as one of six new inductees for the SOU Hall of Fame. He’ll be officially inducted Nov. 1 at a ceremony in SOU’s Rogue River Room.

Thompson was a basketball and baseball standout at RHS, graduating in 2006, and played four years of minor league baseball after high school. He enrolled at SOU in 2011 and went on to play four years with the Raiders men’s basketball team.

The 6-foot-7 forward finished with a school-record 2,465 points and was the program’s first four-time All-Cascade Collegiate Conference performer. Thompson also ranks first in 3-pointers made and is No. 3 on the career rebounds list.

The Raiders won 90 games and qualified for two NAIA Tournaments during his stay. As a senior, he led them to a school-record 26 wins and their second national quarterfinal appearance.
