American Legion Baseball: Docs reach .500 with 10-5 nonleague win over Lewis-Clark

Sproul

Jake Sproul allowed just two runs on five hits over eight innings of work as he helped the Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s build a big-enough lead to withstand a comeback attempt by the Lewis-Clark Twins in a 10-5 victory Saturday at Bill Gray Stadium at Champion Car Wash Field.

The win gave the Docs a 15-15 overall record, marking the first time the team has been at .500 all season.

Sproul stifled the Lewis-Clark bats and struck out eight to improve to 4-1 on the season. Logan Anderson pitched the final inning in the 9-inning affair and allowed three runs on four hits, one walk and two errors, but the Twins ran out of chances when Guy Krasselt was thrown out at home trying to score on a dropped infield fly.

The Docs broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning off of LC starter Kendry Gimlin. Roseburg sent 12 hitters to the plate. Ty Hellenthal drove in a pair with a single to center field. Sprague had an RBI single and Robbins and Flora plated two runs each on back-to-back hits.

Flora finished 2-for-5 with a triple. Johnson and Sprague also had two hits in the game.

Zack Bambacigno (2/4) was the lone Lewis-Clark batter to have multiple hits. He scored twice and reached base three times.
