Roseburg golfers compete in South Medford Invitational
MEDFORD — The Roseburg High School golf teams competed in a Southwest Conference invitational hosted by South Medford on Monday at Rogue Valley Country Club.
The Roseburg girls placed third with a team score of 391. Grants Pass won the team title with a score of 355.
Freshman Lana Silvestri led the Indians with a score of 80 for the 18-hole tournament. She finished with three birdies and tied for second place in the individual standings. Grants Pass senior Chloe Daywitt had a two-stroke lead and finished first with a score of 78.
Roseburg senior Apollonia Heap also cracked the top 10 with a score of 98, good for an eighth place finish.
The Roseburg boys finished sixth as a team with a score of 354. South Eugene led the team standings with a score of 326.
Senior Chase Smith led Roseburg with a tenth place finish. He made par on nine holes, but didn’t record a birdie during the round and finished with a score of 82.
Grants Pass sophomore Brevik Hill led the individual scores by shooting 76 for the round.
The Roseburg girls are scheduled to compete in a tournament hosted by Cottage Grove at the Emerald Valley Golf Club on Thursday. The Roseburg boys will next hit the course on Monday for the Eugene Invitational at the Eugene Country Club.
