Roseburg softball sweeps South Medford in top 10 doubleheader

The Roseburg Indians softball team swept a top 10 doubleheader against Southwest Conference rival South Medford on Saturday at Roseburg High School.

The Indians, ranked 7th in the OSAA coaches poll, edged out a 1-0 win in the opener and then smashed the No. 4 Panthers 12-1 in five innings in Game 2.

Roseburg (9-1, 3-0 SWC) scored the lone run in Game 1 on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning. Terra Singleton ledoff the game with a triple and scored when Cambria Bachmeier drew the two-out walk.

Terra Singleton was red hot at the plate with two triples and a double during the doubleheader.

The Indians recorded 12 hits in the second game, including doubles by Ella Martinez-Bryson and Cadence Ellenwood and a three-bagger by Jasmine Morales.

Morales was nearly unhitable in the circle for Roseburg. South Medford (5-3, 0-3) managed just three hits total between the two games. The junior had 10 strikeouts in the opener and has 88 for the season so far.

Roseburg will host North Medford for a single SWC contest at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
