Roseburg girls end season with 53-31 win, sweep of South Eugene
The Roseburg High School girls basketball team finished out an up-and-down 2024-25 season on a high note with a 53-31 win over the South Eugene Axe on senior night Tuesday at Roberston Memorial Gymnasium.
Senior Shaeli Sikes scored 12 points and sophomore Leighton Osborn came off the bench to finish with a dozen points to lead the Indians in the victory. Zara Karpinski made four 3-point field goals and had a game-high 13 points to lead South Eugene.
Roseburg (7-16, 3-9 SWC) built a 10-point lead after the first quarter and held South Eugene (5-20, 0-12) to just three points in the second quarter to take a 30-12 lead into the halftime break.
The lead grew to as much as 25 points in the second half as the Indians cruised to a season sweep of the Axe.
The Roseburg program will see five seniors — Sikes, Grace Bachmeier, Cambria Bachmeier, Arlie Aasen and Kalyah Smith — graduate from the team this season.
