Oregon moves to No. 1 in college football polls

The Oregon Ducks are the top team in college football.

After another week of upsets in the polls, the Ducks ascended to No. 1 in both the Associated Press top 25 and the Coaches Poll, released on Sunday.

It’s the first time that UO has reached No. 1 in the nation since the 2012 season.

Oregon earned 51 of 53 first-place votes in the coaches poll, and 59 of 61 first-place votes in the AP poll. The Ducks are one of three Big Ten teams in the top five along with No. 3 Penn State and No. 4 Ohio State.

No. 13 Indiana and No. 20 Illinois give the Big Ten five teams in the top 20.

This is the 10th time in program history that Oregon has been No. 1 in the coaches poll, and ninth time in the AP poll. UO was last No. 1 in both polls on Nov. 11, 2012.

The Ducks will have another top 25 showdown this week as Oregon hosts No. 20 Illinois at Autzen Stadium. The game will kickoff at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
