Umpqua women’s soccer drops season-opener at South Puget Sound

The Umpqua women’s soccer team got its season underway with a 1-0 loss at South Puget Sound on Tuesday.

The Riverhawks out-shot the Clippers 4-1 in the matchup, but couldn’t capitalize on their chances. Yulisa Anguiano, Hailey Clay, Ginne Saavedra and Hadley Williams all had a shot on goal for UCC.

South Puget Sound put the game-winning goal in the back of the net in the 69th minute on an unassisted shot from Crystal Carriedo.

The Riverhawks are right back to action with a non-conference match at Centralia starting at noon on Wednesday.
