ROSEBURG – The Roseburg softball team jumped on Roosevelt early on the way to an 11-2 win in the first round Monday. The Tribe took a 2-0 lead in the first and rode a two-hit pitching performance from Madysn Blevins to the comfortable victory.

Roseburg put up 12 hits in the contest and had four players with three hits each. Maria Bacigalupo finished with two triples and a double and Samie Bergmann drove in four runs. Marinda Carlyle also had three hits and a RBI and Jordan Gibson drove in two runs for the Indians.

Blevins struck out six Roosevelt batters and walked one. She improved her season record to 17-9.

Up next for the Roseburg girls is a visit to Clackamas for a second round showdown. The Cavaliers defeated Lakeridge 12-3. The two teams face off at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
